Women workers stand up to violence

The 25th of November was theInternational Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Globally, 35% of women and girls experience some physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime, while in some countries this figure is as high as 70%. Women workers and unions are fully involved in this fight against violence. In the Rojava region of northern Syria, amid war and mass dislocation, Kurdish women are at the forefront against violence and sexism, and for gender, political and economic equality. They marked the day with rallies and demonstrations. A public meeting is being held in Melbourne this Wednesday December 10, on the situation in Rojava.
