THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested two women who were later identified as sisters for online child sexual trafficking and rescued six minor victims, including a two-month-old baby.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the two suspects were nabbed following surveillance operations conducted by the NBI-Violence Against Women and Children Division (NBI-VAWCD).
Santiago said the NBI-VAWCD was able to trace and locate the residence of the two suspects and uncovered their real identities.
Armed with a search warrant, the NBI agents hatched an entrapment operation to arrest the two women and rescue the minor victims who were being offered.
The two women were caught in the act of offering their children to perform sexually explicit shows in exchange for a fee.
In the course of the operation, Santiago said the NBI agents were able to rescue six minors whose ages ranged from two months old to 14 years old.
Cases of multiple counts of online sexual abuse or exploitation of children or child sexual abuse or exploitation materials (CSAEM) under Republic Act 11930; qualified trafficking under RA9208 as amended by RA11862; child abuse under RA7610; and rape by sexual assaults under RA 8353 as amended were filed at the Department of Justice.
