More than two thousand years later, writers and scholars are still writing books in universities and huge libraries, holding conferences and making films about me and my life and mission.
Thousands of books have been written, all attempting to understand and explain me. Some asked if I was a human, or if I was divine or a mixture and what was the nature of that?
Other scriptural scholars of immense learning tried to explain the titles given to me, Son of God, Son of David Messiah, and so on to identify me. I claimed no title for myself I preferred to speak simply of myself in a roundabout way in my local dialect of Aramiac.
In Galilee, out of modesty, we did not speak directly of ourselves. I referred to myself sometimes as a “son of man” instead of saying “I” or “me, myself. For example, The son of man says to you,” ” “The’s of mankind’ tells you a story, or “The son of humanity tells you this”. I didn’t, and I don’t want titles, exaltation, glorification, or worship. That deifies me and makes people scared and tremble, thinking of the Old Testament image of God, the strict, the angry, and the punisher.
I am just the uneducated son of a carpenter, explaining to you that he is just an ordinary human being without exalted titles who invites you to join him in doing good and opposing evil. Just believe in your heart and mind that together we can win. That’s the only faith I want for you and mankind. That is the faith in action that I want to see in every follower and community.
The institutionally organized church has somehow lost that faith. They prefer dogmas and theological formulas, great cathedrals with pomp and ceremony, priests in flowing robes, and pointed hats. What I want from each follower, including you, is a lifelong, dedicated commitment to act and live for justice and peace for the poor.
I just want to speak with you person to person, as an ordinary human to human, and for you to accept me as I am, Jesus of Nazareth.
Share this, come again, and we will talk some more. Jesus.
