Village chief in Manila charged for beating up teen

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay chairman has been charged for allegedly beating up a 16-year-old boy with a set of brass knuckles in his office in Sta. Cruz, Manila Saturday night.

Barangay 350, Zone 35 chairman Felipe Falcon Jr. was charged with serious physical injuries in relation to child abuse and is reportedly in hiding.

In his complaint, the boy said he went to the barangay hall to give the cell phone of his friend, who was arrested earlier that night.

The boy said Falcon reeked of liquor when the official approached him outside the barangay hall and asked him what he was doing there.

The boy said Falcon attacked him when he did not recognize him as the barangay chairman.

The beating only stopped when the boy’s father arrived and took the boy to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
