Honorable Judge Jose Nathaniel Salazar Andal, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 24, and his court personnel visited the Preda New Dawn Home 16 December 2024. During the visit, Judge Andal encouraged the boys to cooperate and finish the rehabilitation program at Preda as it will give them a better chance at life in the future. He emphasized the importance of education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) that is offered in the New Dawn Home.
Judge Andal is one of the first judges that referred children in conflict with the law (CICL) to the Preda New Dawn Home in 2018, a significant recognition of the effectiveness and importance of the open center concept being implemented in the said Center. It is also an indication of his trust and confidence in the Preda rehabilitation program.
From 2018, several CICL have been admitted to the New Dawn Home and subsequently reintegrated back to their families after successful completion of their rehabilitation, diversion or disposition programs. Successfully reintegrated residents are encouraged and assisted to continue schooling through monitoring by an aftercare worker and provision of monthly educational allowance.
Before the visit came to an end, the court personnel gave gifts to the children.
The Preda Foundation is able to operate the New Dawn Home in Liloan, Cebu through the generous support of Aktionsgruppe Kinder in Not e.V based in Germany.
