Remains of murdered OFW from Kuwait to be repatriated – DFA
THE body of Jullebee Ranara, the Filipino house helper in Kuwait killed by her employer’s son, will be repatriated on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday.
Ranara, 35, was reportedly raped, beaten, ran over and burned by the son of her employer in Kuwait.
“The remains [of Ranara] will be brought home on Friday night,” said DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo de Vega.
In a press briefing, de Vega said Ranara’s employer will shoulder the repatriation of her remains. There is “no expense to the government.”
He said the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait “is seeing to it that justice is done” to the victim.
Sen. Robinhood Padilla has called on all concerned agencies to ensure that justice is served and the killer is punished.
The senator also stressed that what happened to Ranara is a violation of the teachings of Islam.
“I am pleading, knocking on the doors of our countrymen to emphasize that what happened to our OFW (overseas Filipino worker) hero was never the work of a Muslim,” Padilla said in Filipino.
“This is not part of our faith. This is a blatant violation of the teachings of Islam,” he added.
