KUALA LUMPUR: Two caretakers of a childcare centre in Rawang have been arrested over the alleged abuse of a 12-year-old boy.

The case came to light when the boy’s cousin, 21, lodged a police report on the matter on Tuesday.

According to her report, the boy was allegedly chained up and punched on the mouth and right eye by the caretakers in the Bandar Country Homes centre.

The boy also had bruises and cuts on his hand, feet, and head.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad said police today arrested the caretakers, a man and a woman, aged 34 and 29, respectively, to facilitate investigations.

Ali said the man is being remanded until Friday, while the woman was released today due to health factors under the court’s permission.
