The Preda Foundation organized a gathering and Christmas party 23 December 2024 that brought together 22 aftercare beneficiaries or former residents of the New Dawn Home who are now successfully reintegrated to their families and communities. This meaningful event celebrated the spirit of community, resilience, and hope, offering a day of reflection, connection, and holiday cheer.

To ensure the convenience and participation of all beneficiaries, a hatid-sundo (transportation service) was arranged, with designated pickup points at E-mall in Cebu City for those from the South, and Carmen, Cebu for those from the North. This thoughtful provision ensured that everyone, regardless of location, could join the celebration with ease.
The program started at 9:30 am, with a prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, uniting everyone in gratitude and solidarity.
A warm welcome and opening remarks from the aftercare worker, Mr. Meljay Cabanes, followed, inspiring participants to reflect on their progress and embrace the journey ahead with hope.
One of the event’s most meaningful segments was the “kumustahan session” where participants openly shared life updates, challenges, and achievements. These sessions, facilitated by social workers, aftercare worker, and other staff available created a supportive environment that strengthened the bonds among beneficiaries and the team.
After a delightful lunch break, participants enjoyed lively parlor games, which brought laughter and joy to all. There were also exciting prizes that motivated everyone to participate with energy and enthusiasm. The children eagerly joined and showcased their teamwork, creativity, and determination to win. Laughter and joy filled the air as they enjoyed the spirit of friendly competition, making the celebration even more memorable.
The event concluded with the distribution of gift packs, a heartfelt gesture symbolizing the program’s dedication to supporting its beneficiaries. The smiles on everyone’s faces reflected the gratitude and happiness brought by this simple yet meaningful act of generosity.
This year’s Aftercare Gathering and Christmas Party was not only a celebration of the season but also a testament to the enduring strength of the aftercare community.
The children are deeply grateful to the leaders of the Preda Foundation, to their generous sponsors, especially Aktionsgruppe, for their unwavering support. They express their heartfelt thanks for the opportunities and assistance provided, which have greatly helped them change their lives for the better. The children are inspired by the kindness and generosity shown to them and are determined to apply the lessons they have learned to build a brighter future.
Thanks also to the social workers, and staff for their unwavering commitment to making the event a success.
As participants returned home through the hatid-sundo service, they carried with them not only their gift packs but also renewed hope, cherished memories, and the reassurance of belonging to a caring and supportive community.
