The support of runners, walkers, comedy lovers, local media and our sponsors helped make PREDA’s “Freedom Weekend” a huge success. Catherina McKiernan was to the fore in leading a field of hundreds of runners and walkers around two laps of the famed Ballybrit course. Against the odds the sun shone and rain was absent.
Comedian Maeve Higgins linked up with Preda media partner Kamil Krolak of “Galway is also Happy” fame and got plenty of laughs with her witty interviews with race goers. Kamil plans to have the footage online in the next few weeks.
The “Freedom Weekend” ended on a high with hugely entertaining comedian Gearoid Farrelly entertaining the audience before Maeve’s performance at the Roisin Dubh.
The weekend raised thousands for children orphaned by the recent typhoon in the Philippines as well as supporting the exploited children rescued by PREDA.
The photos from the event can be viewed on our Flickr feed at: http://predagalway.org/news4.php
Photos taken by PREDA photographer Gerry O’Gara can be viewed online at www.peakepics.com and the footage taken by Kamil Krolak will be available in the coming days. Checkout www.kamilfilms.com for updates.
Many thanks for all those who made the magic happen. Your laughter and athletic prowess has helped make a positive impact on the lives of the children we are supporting. As the events were organised by a team of volunteers all profits go directly to the children.
