Preda Scholars Embrace Facilitative Leadership and Child Advocacy

Seventeen scholars of the Preda Foundation gathered at the Preda Home for Girls in Subic last 19 November 2023 for their monthly meeting facilitated by Preda staff Rose Casta. Reyna Acobera, a facilitator in the Home for Girls and soon-to-be licensed professional teacher, also gave the scholars input on “Facilitative Leadership” that inspired the scholars to develop their leadership skills and to “lead by example.”

Fr. Shay Cullen, founder of Preda Foundation, also gave input to the scholars and inspired them to child defenders, to be alert at all times and report to Preda any news of an abused child in the school or community where they live and Preda will respond to help that child. He said, “It is for every person to protect children, they have to be guardians of children all day and every day.”

Most of the Preda scholars are enrolled in college- either in the Kolehiyo ng Subic or in the President Ramom Magsaysay State University- hoping to be teachers, accountants, or businessmen and women in the future. The Preda Foundation gives them monthly stipend and other financial support as may be necessary and conducts monthly meetings where they participate in personality and human development trainings. The Preda scholarship fund is called the Jessica Smith Fund, in honor of Jessica Smith, daughter of Danny Smith- the founder of Jubilee Campaign- and Joan
Smith.
