Preda Foundation Receives PCNC Certificate of Accreditation
The Preda Foundation was granted on 29 July 2020 its first Certificate of Accreditation, valid for three years, by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC). The PCNC accreditation is a seal of good housekeeping that indicates the organization’s compliance with strict standards of accountability and transparency. Accountability is defined by PCNC as the obligation of the organization to take responsibility and account for programs, services and other activities carried out, degrees to which the desired improvements in the lives of the target public are achieved and usage of externally entrusted and internally generated resources, especially funds. On the othe hand, transparency is the responsibility of NGOs to inform its stakeholders, in a timely and accurate manner, of the types and progress of programs and services, number of clients/beneficiaries reached and improvements in their lives achieved and sources and amounts of funds.
For the past several years, the Preda Foundation has embarked on a project to make itself a more professional, efficient and effective organization. In 2014, it went through the Non-US Government Pre-Award Survey (NUPAS) conducted by SGV, the country’s largest professional services firm, and implemented significant changes as to its legal structure, financial management and internal control system, program performance management and organizational sustainability. It was assisted in this endeavor by the Gerry Roxas Foundation, which managed the Philippine-American Fund of the United States Agency for International Aid (USAID).
To date, the Preda Foundation is operating five separate homes for children located in Zambales and Cebu. It has received accreditation by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) It is also sending to school hundreds marginalized youth including children of indigenous Aeta mango farmers in Zambales. Preda Foundation is also implementing food distribution assistance for the Aeta Indigenous people and implements a reforestation tree planting project with the Aeta people who provide International certified organic mangos for export with Preda assistance.
Preda Foundation is in a trusted partnership with international development organizations such as Missio, Misereor, Tatort, Preda Freundeskreis, the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and other International agencies.
It also collaborates with Philippine government agencies and is a member of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) both on the national and regional level. It has received numerous international Human Rights awards and four nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The certification by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC)is the latest recognition of the highest standards of the Preda Foundation.
