Police net man wanted for child abuse, drugs in Batangas City
BATANGAS CITY – Police arrested in this city a 52-year-old man wanted for frustrated murder, child abuse, and illegal drugs on Tuesday afternoon, April 11.
Batangas police director Police Col. Pedro Soliba identified the suspect as Calixto Morante.
Morante was apprehended by the Batangas City police station, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU)-Batangas Police Provincial Office, PIU-Romblon Provincial Office, Santa Fe, Romblon Police Station, Criminal Detection Investigation Group 4-B-Romblon, Region 6 Provincial Tracker Team, and Regional Intelligence Unit PRO-6.
Suspect was arrested on alias warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 82, Odiongan, Romblon, dated March 27, 2023, and Oct. 26, 2017, for frustrated murder and child abuse, and violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in Kalibo, Aklan dated April 5, 2017.
Bail totaling P480,000 was set by the two courts.
Morante was listed as the No. 8 most wanted person on the regional level of the Police Regional Office 4-B, No. 1 most wanted person on the provincial level of the Romblon PPO, and No. 4 most wanted person on the provincial level of the Aklan PPO, Police Regional Office 6.
Police said Morante is the principal suspect in the shooting of Neoli Lorenzo Mallorca on Sept. 7, 2016.
