No place to hide -Philippine agents BI nabs American paedophile

An American pedophile and sex convict wanted in the United States for violating his parole was arrested in Makati City last Aug. 23, the Bureau of Immigration disclosed Friday.

BI officer-in-charge Siegfred Mison said Stephen Rodden, 51, is wanted by US federal authorities for violating his parole by fleeing to the Philippines. “We will likewise put him in our blacklist so he cannot return here and pose a risk to our Filipino children, or to anyone of could be his next victim,” Mison said. He said their records showed Rodden was convicted by a US court for “continuous sexual abuse of a child.” Rodden will be deported once the BI Board of commissioners issues the order for his summary deportation, he added.

Citing reports from BI agents, he said Rodden could not present his passport when he was arrested at his home at Mockingbird Street in Barangay Rizal in Makati City. On the other hand, he said Rodden is an undocumented alien since his passport already expired. The BI arrested him at the request of the US Embassy, which informed it about his record as a convicted child molester. Also, the embassy said a warrant for Rodden’s arrest was issued by the Board of Parole Hearings in California on March 13, 2012. — LBG, GMA News
