New Zealander jailed for child sexual abuse in Fiji

A Dunedin engineer has been jailed for ten years by a court in Fiji after being convicted on child sex abuse charges. Rex Cameron Macrae denied 8 charges of indecent assault on two girls and one of pornography. The Nadi Magistrates Court heard that Macrae indecently assaulted the girls aged 11 and 13 during a three day stay at a hotel in December 2000. The Magistrate convicted Macrae on three of the eight counts of indecent assault and for pornographic activity involving juveniles. Macrae is the second foreigner to be sentenced to jail in Fiji for child sex offences.
