New Web site where to find British wanted sex offenders

PREDA Breaking News

The UK police today launched a new initiative to post the UK’s Most Wanted sex offenders on a website with photo’s and details of who to contact if you know the whereabouts of these offenders. This rather unusual initiative has been undertaken to identify sex offenders who have breached the terms of their release from prison and who are considered a very high risk to children.

The UK has a sex offenders register and by law all convicted offenders must be registered. By failing to register and provide details of their whereabouts these individuals are committing a criminal offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. This is an untestable offence, with a punishment of up to five years imprisonment. Whilst the individuals on the website may not be wanted for outstanding sexual offences, their failure to comply is an indication of a potential risk of re-offending.

The police website can be found at www.ceop.gov.uk/wanted
