The National Bureau of Investigation apprehended Belgian Prosper Slachmuylders for alleged child abuse activities in Trinidad town in Bohol, a report from GMA’s “24 Oras” said Thursday.
According to the report, the 76-year-old suspect was caught in the act and arrested along with a Filipina said to be a recruiter.
Slachmuylders is reportedly a former mayor in Belgium.
Authorities said the suspect would first offer scholarships, allowances or househelp work to the victims aged 12 to 17.
Once he gets their trust he will then start intoxicating them with alcohol and drugs to easily perpetrate the molestation.
“These innocent victims are prone to this kind of activities due to poverty. They will be offered some money,” NBI Director Atty. Virgilio Mendez said.
The NBI seized a computer drive which shows pictures of at least 30 minors including one who is pregnant being abused by the suspect.
The suspect is facing charges for child abuse, child trafficking and possession of pornographic material of children. -Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News
