MANILA — Parts of Metro Manila have experienced flooding due to heavy rains and thunderstorms this late afternoon until early evening of Thursday according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
In an advisory, the MMDA said that the northbound and southbound portions of Rizal Avenue and R. Papa have chest-deep floods and were not passable to all vehicles as of 6:30 p.m.
The eastbound and westbound parts of Panay Avenue between Scout Albano and Sgt. Esguerra also experienced head-deep floods as of 6:20 p.m. and were not passable to all types of vehicles.
Waist deep floods were seen as of 6:30 p.m. in EDSA-Pasong Tamo, Quezon Avenue-Biak na Bato, EDSA-Pasong Tamo ground level and the southbound and northbound portions of EDSA Pasong Tamo, rendering them unpassable to light vehicles.
For its part, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed an M-35 truck and Isuzu light truck to ferry stranded passengers at Magallanes and Cubao.
The flooding in the areas subsided almost two hours later.
State-run weather bureau Pagasa said in its weather forecast that Metro Manila will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Central and Northern Luzon. (PNA)
