Man accused of child abuse nabbed for illegal firearm in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A man who allegedly committed child abuse, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm in Tiaong town, Quezon province on Wednesday (Feb. 2), police said.

Tiaong police said a woman appeared at the police station around 6:30 p.m. that day and filed a complaint against Romel Cambri, 38, for allegedly abusing her grandchild.

Report did not provide details on the nature of the abuse.

Police officers, local social workers and village officials went to the house of the suspect in Barangay (village) Lagalag to verify the complaint.

The suspect, however, met the authorities with an improvised .38-caliber pistol tucked in his waistband.

Cambri was immediately arrested and will be charged for illegal gun possession and for for violating the election gun ban.

The police are conducting further investigation into the child abuse complaint. INQ
