Dear Preda friends and supporters
An important action for justice and freedom has been launched by Preda_Ireland. It is a song writing competition on the theme of "freedom"
and will inspire and motivate many students, youth and adults to think about their life and the meaning for freedom for them. We take our freedoms for granted but around the world there is much slavery and human rights violations. So this competition is to help us all to see the reality, judge wisely and act strongly to help those who do not enjoy the freedoms that we have.
Freedom from hunger,poverty, oppression,fear and abuse and unjust imprisonment and free from every addiction are the great human and spiritual values that we all have a right to hold and cherish. Then there are the great freedoms that people live and die for: freedom to speak freely, to express one's thoughts and opinions, freedom to assemble and promote justice and human rights, freedom to live in safety and security and be free to learn and grow in dignity and to enjoy all human rights.
These are the great values of the Preda -Ireland Freedom Day song writing competition for launched this month by Philip Cribbin chairperson of Preda -Ireland. Young people all around Ireland are invited to contribute their own songs and judged by the famous and very popular song writer and singer Damien Dempsey. This is a great occasion to inspire the budding song writers in our schools and colleges and lead them to think about the the values of the freedoms that they enjoy in Ireland and to understand how millions around the world are denied their rights to basic freedoms. This competition will raise awareness and greater understanding of the greatest value of all freedom .
