Italian diplomat ordered detained in city jail
MANILA – A Laguna trial court has set the arraignment of Italian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Daniele Bosio on charges of child abuse and human trafficking.
The Binan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 22 scheduled Bosio’s arraignment on June 18.
Bosio faces 3 counts of child abuse penalized under Republic Act (RA) No. 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and 3 counts of qualified trafficking penalized under RA No. 10364, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
Binan City Prosecutor Agripino Baybay also confirmed that Binan RTC Branch 22 Judge Theodoro Solis issued a commitment order directing the police to detain Bosio at the Binan City Jail.
While child abuse is a bailable offense, qualified trafficking is non-bailable.
The charges against Bosio stemmed from his alleged molestation of 3 minors during a vacation here in the Philippines.
