Global hunt for Haswell

HAVE you seen this man? Southampton-born Mark Haswell is wanted by police in the Philippines in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old British/Filipino girl there.

A warrant for the arrest of 44-year-old Haswell was issued by a court in Pasay City, Philippines, in 2009 but the businessman, who was formerly prominent in the Far East sailing community, is believed to be back living in Britain.

As a result of the warrant, Haswell is on Interpol’s list of wanted persons under the categories of Crimes Against Children, Fugitives, and Sex Crimes.

But a Sun reader has contacted us out of concern that, in spite of this, Haswell has seemingly not attracted the attention of the British authorities.

Bryan, from the Philippines, said: “Haswell was able to travel freely to Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore as late as December 2010 and back to the UK in early 2011. I have passed information about his whereabouts on to Interpol twice but this was simply passed back to the Philippine National Bureau for Investigation (NBI) who took no further action.”

Haswell, who is thought to own a property in Southampton, was last reported in the Newcastle area in February 2011.

Interpol ask for anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact local police or the General Secretariat of Interpol.
