Song competition “freedom” is launched by Preda-Ireland .
Freedom from hunger, poverty, oppression, fear and abuse and unjust imprisonment and free from every addiction are the great human and spiritual values that we all have a right to hold and cherish. Then there are the great freedoms that people live and die for: freedom to speak freely, to express one’s thoughts and opinions, freedom to assemble and promote justice and human rights, freedom to live in safety and security and be free to learn and grow in dignity and to enjoy all human rights.
These are the great values of the Preda -Ireland Freedom Day song writing competition for launched this month by Philip Cribbin chairperson of Preda -Ireland and the support team based in Galway.
Young people all around Ireland are invited to contribute their own songs and judged by the famous and very popular song writer and singer Damien Dempsey. This is a great occasion to inspire the budding song writers in our schools and colleges and lead them to think about the values of the freedoms that they enjoy in Ireland and to understand how millions around the world are denied their rights to basic freedoms.
