Reflections on James 2.14-17
So many good Christians attend church services and the sacraments, they believe and are full of faith but if there is no positive action to help the stranger, the poor, the hungry, the sick, the abused and needy then St. James says our faith is dead. That is a challenging saying indeed but very true.
” My brothers and Sisters, what good is it for someone to say he or she has faith if his actions do not prove it.? Can that faith save him/her? Suppose there are brothers and sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat and saying to them “God Bless you, keep warm and eat well”- if you don’t give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, it is dead.
