MANILA – Nine female sex workers, four of whom were allegedly minors, were rescued from a motel in Caloocan City.
Atty. Eric Nuqui, chief NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division, said some of the victims were from calamity-hit areas such as Samar.
“This is a form of re-victimization. They are victims of calamities and are being victimized again by heartless people,” he said.
He said the females were staying at a shanty near the motel while waiting for a customer to pick them up.
It was learned that customers of the girls paid P500 for sex. Of that amount, only P150 goes to the girl.
NBI agents arrested five individuals who allegedly acted as pimps. One of the pimps said he decided to go into prostitution after he lost his job.
The rescued females were brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counseling. – report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
