COSTA RICAN CONGRESS DISALLOWED CHANGES TO A CURRENT LAW

The Costa Rican Congress disallowed changes to a current law that would have allowed for telephone interventions in cases related to the production and distribution of child pornography, trafficking of children’s organs and the sexual exploitation of children. Costa Rica has been heavily criticised both by the United Nations and NGOs for the growing levels of sexual exploitation of children in that country. In a recent ABC news program, the President of Costa Rica, Miguel Angel Rodriguez, stated that there were “only 20 or 30 children” being sexually exploited in the whole country
