Corskie M. San Jose, a public high school teacher in Olongapo City, was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of lascivious conduct for abusing two male students in 2017, one only 11 years old at that time. He was sentenced to a minimum of eight years imprisonment in one case and a minimum of 12 years in the other case. He was also ordered to pay the victims moral and exemplary damages.
The cases stemmed from two separate incidents in 2017. One incident took place in the English nook of the Olongapo City National High School (OCNHS) where Corskie San Jose asked the minor-victim personal questions with sexual overtones, gave him one hundred pesos, placed his hand on the lap of the minor-victim and touched the minor-victim’s genitals. The other incident in which Corskie San Jose forcibly licked the nipple and grabbed the genitals of his 15-year old victim, happened outside the school.
In June 2019, Corskie San Jose was also found administratively liable for the abuse of the 11-year old victim and was ordered suspended by the regional director of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Another teacher in Olongapo City, Franco Aranas, is also facing administrative and criminal charges for sexually abusing three male students. He was arraigned today at the Regional Trial Court, Olongapo City.
The Preda Foundation wishes to remind all duty-bearers especially teachers of the country’s child protection laws specifically Republic Act 7610 and Republic Act 9208 and of the DepEd’s Child Proction Policy and warns that if and when they violate these, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
