No longer content with rescuing child prostitutes off the streets, child-rights groups in the Philippines have turned to fighting paedophiles in court. Their main aim is to make sure foreign paedophiles serve term in jail. So even if suspected paedophiles manage to win their criminal case, these groups are prepared to fight them in a civil suit. The child-sex problem worsened during the Asian financial crisis more than two years ago. These groups are also distributing flyers with photographs of the suspected offenders, in the hope that more people will come forward with evidence for prosecution. International law enforcement agencies are also helping out.
