BI Deports Convicted Swiss Pedophile

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) the other day deported a Swiss national wanted in his country for being convicted as a pedophile.

Immigration Commissioner Rufus Rodriguez said Roland Suphaphon alias Roland Willi, was deported to Switzerland Tuesday following his arrest last week inside a Quezon City restaurant by joint operatives of the BI and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Rodriguez said Suphaphon was arrested at the request of the Swiss Embassy in Manila which bared that the fugitive was already convicted by a court in Geneva more than two years ago for sexually abusing children.

Suphaphon, however, immediately fled to the Philippines after his conviction to evade his sentence.

Col. David Ombao, chief of the BI foreign liaison group, said Suphaphon was arrested on the night of April 11 inside the Bato Restaurant at No. 85, 10th Ave., Cubao, Quezon City where he had been working as a landscaper.

Rodriguez issued the warrant pursuant to a summary deportation order issued against Suphaphon by the BI board of Commissioners which found him to be an undocumented alien.
