A man will face court today after a girl was allegedly raped in Bankstown earlier this year.

The 24-year-old man has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl known to him.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports the girl had been sexually assaulted.

Police will allege the man, who was arrested on November 22, knew the girl through mutual friends and sexually assaulted her in a car in Bankstown earlier this year.

He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.

Child Abuse Squad detectives are trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse and extreme cases of neglect.

Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
