A LETTER OF INSPIRATION AND ACTION FOR CHILDREN.
23 FEBRUARY 2016
Dear Fr. Shay,
Good day po. I am one of the privileged ones who receive your regular essays that share insights about humanity, how we live, and how we ought to work for change, from a Christian perspective, to make this world a better place for all, especially the marginalized.
I took the leap for change this January. I was touched by three events– 1. when Pope Francis opened the church door and declared this year as Year of Mercy; 2) when I heard Fr. C. Arevalo expound on the Year of Mercy and what this means to Christians; and 3) when I read your essay on the conditions of CICL and their Homes. These events along with my relationship with God has led me to volunteer as a ‘good storyteller’ to 15 CICL at the Marikina Youth Home. I already completed my second session (once a week) with the youth who, I think, are starting to appreciate the experience.
I write to thank you, Fr. Shay, for your gentle reminders and for showing us — through your leadership and the work of PREDA, concrete examples of how we can be change agents, in small or big ways.
May God bless you always.
Sincerely,
Jesi
