Peter Scully’s live-in partner, now in jail on charges of 3 counts of rape and one count of human trafficking, is seeking to be a state witness
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Authorities are preparing additional charges of rape and qualified human trafficking against Peter Scully after they identified 6 more minors who were abused by the Australian national.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Northern Mindanao Director Angelito Magno said announced this on Tuesday, March 10, when Scully was brought back to this city from Manila to be jailed.
The return is part of the process of committing and returning the warrant of arrest issued against Scully by Judge Jose Escobido of Regional Trial Court Branch 37.
“We have identified at least 6 new victims of Scully, so we are filing 6 more cases of rape and qualified human trafficking,” Magno said.
Scully was arrested on February 20 in Malaybalay City following a lead provided by the Dutch government that he was broadcasting to clients in Europe his sexual assaults on children in Mindanao.
Based on the investigation of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the NBI, Scully committed crimes against 8 young girls, including the ones recently identified by the authorities.
Scully will also be facing murder charges after the NBI on February 25 unearthed a body of what they believed to be that of a young girl whom Scully took from Talakag, Bukidnon, and abused and killed in Surigao City.
Magno told Rappler that the newly identified victims are all from Cagayan de Oro. He declined to give other details.
The Australian national was ordered arrested by the Cagayan de Oro court based on the complaint of two girls, aged 9 and 10, whom he allegedly raped and trafficked in September 2014.
One of the victims told Rappler that she and her cousin were enticed by Scully’s live-in-partner Carme Ann Alvarez, who is now detained on charges of 3 counts of rape and one count of human trafficking.
Scully’s partner, who allegedly was his victim initially, is seeking to be a state witness, Magno said.
Scully told Rappler while waiting for his commitment papers to be processed that he does not have a lawyer, and that his embassy did not provide him any. – Rappler.com
