4-yr-old girl shot in crossfire between Subic cops, drug suspect

SUBIC, Zambales—A four-year-old girl was hurt in the crossfire between the police and a suspected drug dealer during a buy-bust operation here on Thursday night.

The suspect Abdul Ignuhali tried to shoot his client after sensing he was an undercover agent but the bullet struck his neighbor’s daughter Sherida Talib instead, said Chief Insp. Leonardo Madrid, commander of Subic police station.

Talib is being treated for a gunshot wound in the right leg.

Ignuhali managed to escape but the police arrested nine of the suspect’s companions, who were allegedly engaged in a pot session in his house in Barangay (village) Calapacuan here at around 6:45 p.m., Madrid said.

Police seized from the suspects 10 plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and drug paraphernalia. RAM/rga
