SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — At least 21 minors were rescued last year in raids on five establishments in Central Luzon, the regional Department of Labor and Employment said. Kay Placido, child labor program head of the regional DOLE, said most of those rescued were from the Visayas. Seven minors were rescued from a sugarcane plantation in Porac, Pampanga; six from a food factory in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, and one from a poultry farm in CabanaWan City. Seven others, all girls, were saved from karaoke bars in Balibago, Angeles City and in Bamban, Tarlac. The raiding teams acted on tips from concerned citizens and members of nongovernment organizations.
